Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 9, 2026

By submitting a pitch, manuscript, or other material to AlònTala Publishing, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Eligibility

Submissions are open to Filipino authors of any age. Authors under 18 must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to submit and to enter into any future publishing agreement.

Submitted work must be original, and the author must hold the rights necessary to submit and publish it. Previously shared or self-published work may be considered as long as it is not subject to an agreement that prevents publication by AlònTala and the author is willing and legally able to remove it from other platforms if required. Works subject to conflicting publishing, licensing, exclusivity, or other rights agreements are not eligible.

2. Submissions

All submissions must follow the current instructions on the AlònTala Submissions page and must be sent to submissions@alontala.com. Submissions that are incomplete or sent through other channels may not be reviewed.

Manuscripts must be complete and editorial-ready. This means the manuscript should be carefully self-edited and represent the strongest version of the work the author can reasonably produce independently.

Editorial-ready does not mean print-ready. Please do not typeset, design, or otherwise prepare your manuscript as a finished book. AlònTala handles book design and production for works we acquire. We have no strict font or formatting requirements beyond keeping submissions clear and readable.

3. Review & Selection

Submissions are reviewed on an ongoing basis and may take up to 3 months. All authors will be notified of the outcome.

AlònTala has full editorial discretion over which works it considers or acquires. Decisions may be based on writing quality, originality, editorial readiness, catalogue fit, market considerations, publishing capacity, and other relevant factors.

We may request additional chapters, the complete manuscript, revisions, or further information before making a decision. A request for additional material or further discussion is not an offer or guarantee of publication.

Simultaneous submissions are permitted. If your work is accepted elsewhere or otherwise becomes unavailable while under consideration, please notify us promptly. AlònTala may request a period of exclusive consideration at a later stage, which will be discussed with the author directly.

Authors may withdraw their submission at any time before signing a publishing agreement.

4. Copyright & Rights

Authors retain full copyright to their work during the submission process. By submitting, you give AlònTala limited, non-exclusive permission to store, reproduce, and internally share the submitted material only as reasonably necessary to evaluate it.

No publishing rights are transferred through submission. Rights are granted to AlònTala only through a separate publishing agreement accepted by both parties.

Submission, correspondence, editorial feedback, requests for additional material, or other discussions do not create a publishing agreement or an obligation to publish.

5. Editorial Process

Acquired manuscripts may undergo developmental editing, structural revision, line editing, copyediting, proofreading, or other editorial work as appropriate. Acceptance does not mean that a manuscript will be published exactly as submitted.

Cover design, interior design, typesetting, and other production work are handled by AlònTala as part of the publishing process. Authors are expected to collaborate professionally and in good faith throughout editing and production.

6. Royalties & Compensation

AlònTala operates on a traditional, royalty-based publishing model. Authors do not pay AlònTala to publish works we acquire. AlònTala assumes the agreed costs and responsibilities of editing, producing, and publishing the book.

No advances are currently offered. Selected authors receive royalties according to their publishing agreement. Royalty rates, payment schedules, calculation methods, rights, formats, distribution arrangements, and other financial terms are provided before the agreement is signed.

7. Confidentiality & Similar Works

AlònTala treats submitted manuscripts and other unpublished materials as confidential and will not publicly share or distribute them without the author’s consent, except as reasonably necessary for evaluation and publication.

Authors are free to discuss their own submission experience but may not reproduce or publicly distribute substantial private correspondence, confidential editorial materials, internal documents, or non-public business information belonging to AlònTala without permission.

AlònTala may receive, review, develop, acquire, or publish works with similar themes, ideas, premises, settings, genres, or subject matter. Submission does not give an author exclusivity over general ideas or concepts, and AlònTala is not responsible for similarities with works independently created, submitted, acquired, or published.

8. Refusal & Disqualification

AlònTala may decline or discontinue consideration of a submission at any stage. Submissions may also be disqualified for plagiarism, misrepresentation of authorship or rights ownership, AI-generated material presented as wholly original human-authored work, unlawful material, infringement of third-party rights, unauthorized derivative material, or other substantial legal or rights-related concerns.

AlònTala also retains editorial discretion to decline work based on content, quality, catalogue fit, publishing capacity, or other editorial considerations.

Authors are responsible for keeping copies and backups of their submitted materials. AlònTala is not responsible for files lost, corrupted, delayed, inaccessible, or otherwise affected by technical issues outside our reasonable control.

9. Publishing Agreement & Governing Law

If AlònTala offers publication, the author will receive a separate publishing agreement setting out the applicable rights, royalties and compensation, editorial and production responsibilities, formats, distribution, publication schedule, contract term, termination provisions, and other conditions.

Authors are encouraged to read the agreement carefully, ask questions, and seek independent advice before signing.

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.

By submitting to AlònTala Publishing, you confirm that you have the legal authority to submit the work, that the information you provide about its authorship and rights status is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
