Got a Story?
If you have a finished manuscript you believe in, we’d love to hear about it.
We accept submissions by pitch. If you’re interested, please email your pitch and sample to submissions@alontala.com following the guidelines below.
AlònTala Publishing operates on a collaborative traditional publishing model.
We handle editing, production, printing, and distribution. We believe that the most successful books are those supported by both publisher and author, and we look for projects where there is shared interest in the book’s life beyond release day.
We encourage submissions from authors who are not only committed to the work itself, but also to reaching readers.
First,
Please take a moment to read our Terms & Conditions.
By sending your pitch or manuscript to AlònTala Publishing, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms.
Now, the pitch.
Your pitch is how we decide whether to request the full manuscript.
We only consider projects that the author considers complete and publication-ready at the time of submission.
Your pitch should include the following:
1. Project details
- Working title
- Genre or form (or describe it if it resists genre)
- Final word count or approximate length
- A statement that the manuscript is complete and ready for editorial review
2. Comparative titles (optional but encouraged)
List up to three widely recognizable titles that feel meaningfully similar to your project in terms of tone, audience, structure, or thematic territory.
These are not for marketing. They help us understand where your work sits in the larger literary conversation.
Example:
“This project may appeal to readers of The Night Circus and Never Let Me Go, particularly in its focus on [x] and [y].”
3. The story itself
Provide a clear summary of the narrative in 2 to 3 paragraphs total, covering what the story is about, how it unfolds, and how it ends.
We are not looking for a teaser, a mood description, or back-cover copy. We want to understand what actually happens.
4. What makes it distinct
Tell us what sets this project apart.
This might include:
- A formal or structural choice
- A particular narrative voice or perspective
- A thematic focus that is rarely explored, or explored in an unusual way
- A way the work reframes familiar patterns
You do not need to convince us that it will sell. You do need to show us that the work is intentional.
5. Publishing intent
There is no single correct answer. We are looking for clarity, intention, and alignment.
Why are you seeking traditional publication for this project?
In a short paragraph, tell us why you want this work to be traditionally published rather than self-published or kept independent.
You may wish to address:
- What you hope traditional publishing will provide for this project
- How you imagine your role as the author once the book is released
- What “success” for this book looks like to you
About the sample
Please include the first three chapters of the manuscript with your pitch.
These should be:
- Polished and carefully edited
- Representative of the final voice, pacing, and quality of the book
Even though we only ask for a partial at this stage, we expect that the full manuscript already exists in a form the author would be comfortable sending to print.
We consider
- Novels, novellas, poetry, and short story collections of any genre
- Written in either Filipino or English.
A note on readiness
If you feel your manuscript still needs substantial structural, stylistic, or conceptual work, we encourage you to continue developing it independently before submitting.
