Self-Publishing
Self-publishing with AlònTala is for authors who want to publish their work independently while working with a professional publisher.
All self-published titles are released under AlònTala’s imprint and become part of our official catalog. Because of this, we approach self-publishing with the same care, selectivity, and accountability as our traditional titles.
What Self-Publishing Means at AlònTala
When you self-publish with AlònTala, you remain the primary driver of your project—but you are not working alone.
AlònTala acts as your publishing partner, guiding the book through a structured process from manuscript to release. The goal is not speed or volume, but a finished book that is intentional, coherent, and ready to meet readers.
Self-publishing with us means:
- Your book is published under a professional imprint
- The project follows a clear publishing workflow
- Editorial and production decisions are made with long-term quality in mind
About the Two Support Levels
We offer two levels of self-publishing support. Both result in a professionally published book. The difference is not prestige, visibility, or outcome. The difference is where the manuscript begins.
Some manuscripts arrive stable and ready for production. Others need space for development, discussion, and revision before publication. Our role is to meet the manuscript where it is and help it move forward responsibly.
A Note on Editorial Work
Editorial work in self-publishing is about alignment and readiness.
For some projects, this means confirming that the manuscript is already working as intended. For others, it means taking time to strengthen structure, clarify intent, or refine execution before production begins.
Not all drafts are ready to become books immediately. We value honesty about where a manuscript stands, because it leads to better outcomes for both author and publisher.
Why Choose Self-Publishing with AlònTala
Self-publishing with AlònTala is not about outsourcing effort. It’s about gaining structure, perspective, and momentum.
Authors benefit from:
Professional Distance
Your work is handled with editorial objectivity. Decisions are made with the book in mind.
A Clear Publishing Process
Instead of figuring everything out alone, you move through a defined publishing workflow with guidance at each stage.
Accountability
Deadlines, revisions, and production decisions are anchored to a real timeline. The book moves forward because someone is holding the process together.
Imprint and Catalog Inclusion
Your book is published under AlònTala’s imprint and becomes part of a curated catalog, not a one-off personal project.
Editorial Judgment
You gain access to professional editorial perspective—whether that means confirmation that the manuscript is ready, or guidance on how to strengthen it before release.
Focus on the Work That Matters
You spend less time second-guessing logistics and more time finishing the book well.
Higher Share of Earnings
Because authors fund their own publication, they retain a larger share of sales revenue compared to traditional publishing models.
This means:
- Greater earning potential per copy sold
- Clearer visibility into costs and returns
- More control over how and when the book earns back its investment
Earnings still depend on sales, effort, and reach, but the financial structure allows authors to benefit more directly from the book’s success.

Why We Require a Pitch
All self-publishing titles released under AlònTala carry our imprint.
The pitch allows us to:
- Understand the project and its goals
- Ensure it aligns with our catalog
- Recommend the appropriate level of support
Not all projects are a fit, and not all manuscripts are ready for publication. Clarity at the start helps prevent frustration later.
How to Pitch
All self-publishing projects begin with a pitch.
Your pitch helps us:
- Understand the project
- Confirm it fits our catalog
- Recommend the appropriate level of support
Please include:
1. Project Details
- Working title
- Genre or form
- Approximate word count
- Current status of the manuscript
2. Story Summary
In 2–3 short paragraphs, tell us:
- What the book is about
- How it unfolds
- How it ends
Clarity matters more than polish here.
3. Publishing Intent
Let us know you are submitting for Self-Publishing, and whether you believe your project fits Independent or Mentored support.
4. Sample
Please include a manuscript sample:
- The first three chapters, or
- A substantial excerpt representative of the work
Drafts are acceptable, depending on the tier.
